It was just an elite blade, sitting on the mat beside others like it. A sword almost touched it, also having the faint red glow of an elite weapon. Sonicia stood looking down at them both, trying to decide between the two of them. The seller looked up at her curiously. He was a mage, the warrior before him was tall and bronzed from the harsh sun. In her hand she held a normal blade, and he knew what she wanted. Suddenly he noticed there was a pebble from the walkway on the blade. Casually, he reached out and flicked it off. Almost as if he decided for her, Sonicia picked it up. Under the very watchful eye of the seller she tested the balance of the blade. Finding it true, she reached intro her purse and pulled out the money that he wanted. Silently, she dropped it in his waiting hands. He looked after her as she walked away and shook his head, Warriors, always so macho, even the ladies.
Sonicia felt the weight of the blade dangling from her hand, it felt so right compared to the normal one. Perfectly balanced, just like a blade should be. The monster that dropped it was strong, somehow she could sense that. Magic coursed through it, begging to be released, or so she imagined. Without really thinking about it, she stopped at the market warehouse and pulled out 2 red stones. Like a pair of tension beads, she moved them about in her free hand. When she looked up she found she was before the quality upgrade.
Silently he stood there watching her. Never saying a word, he knew that he was good. Not the best there was in the world. There was tell of another in a far off land that charged a set amount of precious stones for complete success but Brute never went to that school. It was much too far to travel. So he failed often but when he succeeded there was a chance of getting extra properties that the far off upgrade could never achieve. Iffy at best, he was the only one in this land who could possibly better equipment. The young warrior maiden studied him for a long time. Finally he shifted his weight and started wondering if he had a hair out of place or something to make her look at him for so long. His species was known for standing almost an indefinite amount of time but something about her set him uneasy. Maybe it was her hazel eyes, or maybe the long bangs that almost covered one of them and gave her a mysterious look. He couldn`t decide, but in the end he broke. "May I help you?"
Sonicia gave him a rare small smile and held out her blade and one red stone. Brute took them and she bushed her bangs back behind her ear. That eye had a green tinge to the hazel. Now it was her turn to be studied. Not many people have an off colored eye. Self-consciously, she tossed her head, freeing her bangs hiding her eye again. Brute`s spell was broken; he blinked and looked down at the blade. He took the stone and tried to infuse it into bade but it crumbled into red dust in his hand. Sadly, he held it out to her. Instead of taking it, she brushed his hand aside and passed him her last stone. He took it and tried again.
Light flared and the stone vanished. Sonicia blinked and a look of wonderment crossed her face as the sword erupted with a fiery red light. It settled to dancing along the entire blade from hilt to point. Proudly, like a master displaying his finest work, which he was, Brute held it out. "Success, it has F-Soul, Special Effects, and water attack. Your name is now engraved upon it forever. Congratulations, Sonicia, you have made a super weapon. "
